Dave Allen, an assistant professor of biology at Middlebury College, is an ecologist who works on ticks and tick-borne diseases.

He studies the ecological, environmental, climatic, and landscape factors that contribute to tick populations.

He researches the maintenance of tick-borne diseases in those populations, and tests ticks for the bacteria, which cause Lyme disease and anaplasmosis.
